Question

what is charge of ionization enthalpy

Open in App
Solution

Ionization energy is the amount of energy required, to liberate the most loosely bound electron, form an isolated, neutral gaseous atom, to convert into a univalent gaseous cation. Since, energy is absorbed in this process (endothermic), therefore, the sign of Ionization enthalpy will be positive. Thus, it will be represented as +I.E kJ/mol.
