The usage of resources to enhance the social status and welfare of the people in a country/region is termed development. Development includes building infrastructure, medical facilities, educational facilities, and other several types of amenities for the people of the country/region.

Development has a direct relationship with sustainability. If we do not use the natural resources like water, natural gas, and minerals etc. in the process of development cautiously and make an effort to replenish them for the future generations, such a development will end with the exhaustion of resources. Therefore, we should resort to sustainable development that does not cause overuse of resources.
