Question

what is difference between elctron gain enthalpy and electronegativity?

Open in App
Solution

Electron gain enthalpy is the enthalpy of isolated gaseous atom to accept an electron where no other atom or two atoms are involved , whereas in electronegativity is tendency of an atom in a molecule to attract a shared pair of electrons. Thus electronegtivity depend on the both the atom of molecule whereas Electron gain enthalpy is independent quantitative property measures the heat required to accept electron in its own shell.
