Question

what is double helix dna

Open in App
Solution

The nucleic acids that are present inside our cell nucleus has three main parts – phosphate, sugar and organic bases. The pentose sugar (deoxyribose) that is present in nucleus attaches with phosphate group and organic bases like adenine guanine etc. and form a nucleotide. Several nucleotides attach with each other by forming bonds between hydroxyl groups of each nucleotide and form a poly nucleotide. The two such polynucleotide chains are attached with each other through hydrogen bonds between the complementary base pairs. This forms a double helix structure of DNA.
