Solution

A drying tube is also known as guard tube. It has often bent tube shaped structure. It is connected to reaction vessel which generally evolve gases. It allows the pressure inside the reaction vessel to be relieved while excluding atmospheric moisture that is absorbed by calcium chloride which is filled in guard tube. It keeps the reaction vessels dry that's why it is called drying tube. It does not dry any gas.
