Holozoic mode of nutrition: The mode of nutrition in which food is taken in solid/liquid form from outside and is digested inside their body, this mode of nutrition is known as holozoic mode of nutrition. Humans exhibit such nutrition.

The steps involved in holozoic nutrition are

Ingestion – taking in food materials through mouth

Digestion – breaking down of food by enzymes

Absorption – necessary nutrients get absorbed in the intestine

Assimilation – the absorbed nutrients get mixed with blood and carried to the required areas

Egestion – unwanted and un digested matters come out of the body through anus.
