The functional unit of photosynthesis is known as Light harvesting complex. It is a complex of proteins that is used by plants to capture light than that would be captured by the photosynthetic reaction centre alone.
There are two types of photosystems found in oxygenic photosynthetic organisms-
1. Photosystem I or PS 700.
2. Photosystem II or PS 680.
