Question

WHAT IS MEANT BY STRONGER REDUCING AGENT AND WEAKER REDUCING AGENTS?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student!

The reducing nature or oxidizing nature are measured comparatively in comparison of two substances. For ex: in case of acids we know that organic acids are weaker in nature than inorganic acids so we can say that HCl is stronger acid than acetic acid.

Similarly reducing agent is called stronger reducing agent which has the maximum capacity to reduce any species or to release the electrons easily (as the reducing agents release electrons and itself get oxidized) while the weaker reducing agent will have less tendency to reduce other substances.
