Conditions for a geostationary satellite is as follows

  1. Geostationary satellite must have its time period of revolution same as that of earth.
  2. Geostationary satellite must revolution along the latitude plane of the station and have the same axis of earth’s rotation.
  3. The condition of height r is given as follows

GmM/r2 = mω2r

=> GM/r2 = 4π2r/T2

=> r = (GMT2/4π2)1/3

T = 24×3600 s

Thus r can be calculated.
