Question

What is null method used in metre bridge and what is its advantage? What are other kind of methods?

Solution

In Meter Bridge null method is used. ’Null’ means ‘zero’ so, in this method, to find value of resistor there is a condition in which there is no current through the galvanometer i.e. null current through galvanometer.

Advantage – since, every instrument has some limitation and must give some error whatever small.

But in null method, since no current flows, it does not depend on accuracy of the instrument (galvanometer).

In Meter Bridge there is no other kind of method.
