Solution

Pith is made up of parenchyma tissue. It is also known as medulla. It contributes to the ground tissue system of stem and root of vascular plants. It is present in the center of ground tissue mostly.

Both stem and roots have pith. But, in roots pith is very small and disappears after secondary growth. Pith is very small and inconspicuous in stems of dicot plants. In roots of dicot it is present before the secondary growth occur. In monocot stems the pith is large and well developed but it is absent in the root.

However in both stem and root the pith is made of parenchyma cells.
