Question

what is polar and non polar bonding

Open in App
Solution

Due to large differences in electronegativities between atoms, the more electronegative atom pulls the shared pair of electrons towards itself and it develops a slightly negative charge and the bond is said to be polar in nature. In a polar bond both participating atoms develop slight negative and positive charge.

In a non polar bond charge separation does not take place as the atoms have comparable electronegativities.
