Sodium arsenite solution (NaAsO2·4H2O) is prepared by dissolving arsenic trioxide in a solution of sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide and boiling.
Properties:
It is readily oxidized in air
It can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin which causes skin irritation, burns, itching, poor appetite, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, convulsions, decreased blood pressure and headache etc.
Uses:
It is used as a pesticide.
It is used in treatment of leukemia.
