Composition of living cells varies by the type of cells. In general, cells consist of water, inorganic ions and organic molecules( carbon containing). 70% of total mass of cell is water. Inorganic ions include sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), magnesium (Mg2+), calcium (Ca2+), phosphate (HPO42-), chloride (Cl-), and bicarbonate (HCO3-). Organic molecules include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids which provide uniqueness to diferent types of cells.
