What is the composition of pericardial fluid?

The pericardial fluid is made up of high concentration of lactate dehydrogenase, protein and lymphocytes. It is a straw coloured fluid and approximately 15 to 50 ml present around an adult heart. This fluid reduces friction and protects heart from sudden jerk or injuries.
