Question

what is the difference b/winitial displacement and relative displacement?

Open in App
Solution

There is nothing such as an initial displacement.

Relative displacement is always used when the displacement of one body A is calculated with respect to the displacement of another body B.

If x is the displacement of body A and y is the displacement of body B, then relative displacement of body A with respect to body B is x - y.
