Open in App
Solution

Alkanes Alkenes Alkynes
Alkanes are hydrocarbons that consists of only single covalent bond . They can be starigh chain or branched chain.
General Formula : CnH2n+2
for eg : CH4 ,C2H6 (CH3-CH3),
CH3-CH2-CH2-CH3
Alkenes are hydrocarbons that contain atleast one double covalent bond that is -C=C-.
General formula:
CnH2n
For eg :
CH3-CH=CH2
CH3-CH2-CH=CH2
Alkynes are hydrocarbon that contain atleast one triple covalent bond that is –C≡C–
General formula :
CnH2n-2
For eg :
HC≡CH
CH3–C≡C–CH3
