Calcium oxide is an oxide of calcium which has the chemical formula CaO. It is commonly known as lime. Calcium hydroxide on the other hand is a compound obtained by adding water to calcium oxide. It is commonly known as slaked lime and has the chemical formula Ca(OH)2.
