Question

What is the difference between conformations of alkane and geometrical isomers of alkene? Will propene show cis-trans isomerism?

Open in App
Solution

In conformations of alkane the rotation of molecule group is done around C-C single sigma bond while in geometric isomer of alkene in which the rotation is restricted around C=C double bond.
Propene will not show geometric isomerism as the groups at adjacent position of double bonds have same group , but to show geometric isomerism the group should not be identical
