what is the difference between electro negative character and electro negativity of an electron?

Open in App
Solution

Firstly, electronegativity is of an atom not an electron. Electronegativity is defined as,
the tendency of an atom of an element to attract the shared pair of electrons towards itself in a covalent bond.
Those elements showing this tendency are said to have electronegative character. There is no such difference in these terms.
