Question

What is the difference between minority carrier injection under forward bias and drift current of pn junction diode under reverse bias?

Open in App
Solution

Drift current under reverse bias conditions occurs naturally and is independent of the applied external electric field. However, the injection of minority charge carriers under forward conditions is done artificially and externally as minority charge carriers are fused into the semiconductor's two sides near the junction. These carriers eventually diffuse and recombine.
