Nascent oxygen is the single atom of oxygen denoted by 'O'.It is highly reactive species.As we know that Oxygen exist in nature as O₂ molecule.So O₂ is the most stable form of O₂.
1/2 O₂ means 1/2 molecule of diatomic oxygen O₂. Generally 1/2 O₂ is used in balancing the equation. But actually it is molecular form of oxygen only. It is as stable as diatomic oxygen O₂.
