What is the difference between resistance and resistor ? Are both same? Is the resistance shown in circuit diagram represent the resistance of that whole wire or that represent a particular device which give resistance?

Resistance is a property of the substance while Resistor is an electrical component used to add a known resistance to an electrical circuit.

So a resistor offers resistance.

The resistance shown in the circuit diagram represents the resistance offered by that entire branch in which current is flowing.
