what is the difference between sping & beam balance?

Beam balance is used to measure the mass of an object by comparing it with a known mass.In the beam balance known masses are placed on one pan and the substance which is to be weighed is placed on the other pan. A beam scale has the capability of measuring small to very large masses.

whereas a spring balance measures weight.In this object to be weighed is attached to the end of a helical spring and it's extension indicates the weight of the object on a calibrated scale
