Question

What is the difference between the direction of conventional current and the flow of electrons in a circuit

Open in App
Solution

In a circuit positive terminal of the battery represents the higher potential and negative terminal represents the lower potential.

As electrons are the negatively charged particle they move towards the positive terminal of the battery , therefore electrons move from lower potential to higher potential.

Current in the circuit flow in the opposite direction of the electrons , therefore current in the current is from positive terminal to the negative terminal hence current flows from higher potential region to the lower potential region.
