what is the difference between the election law and model code of conduct?
Election Laws are designed for the entire process of elections. They regulate the how voting takes place, mode of voting, how votes are counted, recorded. They are broad and comprehensive in nature. There are laws regulating behavior of the parties, candidates, for returning officers,for counting agents, for polling agents etc.
Model code of conduct has evolved with consensus of political parties and are guidelines and norms for parties and candidates to adhere to , so as to ensure free and fair elections.
