What is the effect of decapitation on formation of auxillarybuds

Open in App
Solution

Decapitation reduces the formation of axillary buds and this occurs due to a plant hormone auxin which is synthesized at the shoot tips. This process is known as Apical dominance. This promotes the formation of lateral buds.
