Open in App
Solution

  • ATP stands for Adenosine triphosphate.
  • Mitochondria produce ATP for the cell to perform all of its functions. Due to cellular respiration of food glucose and energy is released. They contain enzymes for cellular respiration. The stepwise released energy by oxidation of food is converted into usable chemical energy in the form of ATP molecules. The ATP molecules are released into the cytoplasm for providing energy for various vital functions. Hence mitochondria are known as power house of the cell.
