Question

what is the function of the freely permeable cell wall of a cell?

Open in App
Solution

The cell wall is an additional protective, rigid structure present outside the cell membrane. It is present only in plant cells. It protects them from heat, humidity, pressure etc. It is freely permeable so that substances like small ions and molecules can easily pass through it. The cell membrane regulates in and out movement of ions from the cell.
