Question

what is the genetic nature of apomictics embryos

Open in App
Solution

The development of embryo from an unfertilized egg is known as apomixis. The embryo is apomictic embryo. In apomixis, reductional division does not take place in ovule. Thus diploid egg is formed inside the embryo sac which develops into embryo without fertilization. The genetic nature of apomictic embryo is same as the genetic nature of the parent.
