Solution
Stratum granulosum is one of the layers of the epidermis. It is found above the startum spinosum. Stratum granulosum is impermeable to water. This layers form a barrier between the active cells of the lower epidermis and the outer dead cells. The granular cells contain special lamellar granules. These granules secrete fatty substances. These fatty substances get deposited into the spaces between the cells of the stratum granulosum. These fatty sheets form a waterproof sheet which create protective barrier to the lower layers of skin.
