Intercalaray meristems are intercalated in between the permanent tissues. They are present either at the node as in Grasses, Bamboos and Mints or at the base of leaf as in Pinus. They originate from the apical meristems during development. Hence, these are also called as detached meristem or remains of apical meristem.
