All cells in the body are modified to the specific tissue or organ to which they belong. They divide to produce more cells or repair dead and diseases for a specific tissue only. This is called differentiation. And some cells even loose the ability to divide at all.
Stem cells are the only adult cells which when produced can be induced to produce specific cells adapted to the structure and functioning of the desired tissue or organ.
