What is the principle involved in separation using seprating funnel and centrifugation method

Separating Funnel- It is used to separate mixture of liquids which have different densities. Principal behind the separation is that the liquid with higher density will go down because of gravity, while the one having lesser density will come up and they form two separate layers.Then both the layers can be collected separately.

Centrifugation- It is used to separate solid from liquid in suspension or non-homogenous liquid. Principle behind the separation is also on the basis of difference in density . centripetal acceleration makes the heavier particles to settle down and the lighter particles come up during the centrifugal rotation.
