Reaction of calcium with water:
Ca + 2H2O Ca(OH)2 + H2

​The hydrogen gas released on the reaction of calcium and water. The bubbles of hydrogen gas stick to the surface of unreacted calcium. And as we know gases are less denser than liquid, so that's how the calcium floats in water.
