what is the role of auxin in gravotropism
Yes auxin has a role in gravitropism
Auxin travels down the phloem in the stem and suppresses lateral growth, when auxin concentration increases along the lower sides of the roots, this results in the inhibition of cell expansion on the lower side and the consequent curvature of the roots towards gravity. The auxin prohibits cell elongation in the roots which causes the roots to bend down into the soil.
