  • The Company tried to eliminate existing brokers and traders connected with cloth trade
  • Thus, it established direct control on the weaver
  • Gomasthas were appointed to supervises these weavers, collect their supplies, etc
  • It prevented the weavers from dealing with other buyers other than Company
  • This was done through system of advances
  • As soon as the order was placed, weavers were given loans to purchase raw materials for production
  • Those weavers who took loans has to hand over the final product to gomasthas and not hand over to any other trader or buyer
