1) National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) was passed in September 2005 and according to this Act 100 days assured employment is provided to every rural household in 200 districts every year

2) This scheme was extended to 600 districts at later stages. As per this Act, 1/3^rd of proposed jobs would be reserved for women and the Central government will also establish National Employment Guarantee funds

3) Under this programme, if an applicant is not provided within 15 days he/she will be entitled to daily employment allowance.
