Solution

The plants that cannot grow by sawing the seeds directly in the field are first grown in nursery or seed bed and then planted to the original field where they are cultivated. This process of replanting the saplings from nursery to main field is known as transplantation.

The advantages of transplantation are

  • Healthy saplings can be selected from nursery to transplant
  • Better nursing for the newly germinated seedlings
  • Better penetration of roots in the soil
  • Better development of shoot system of plants
  • Saplings can be planted in specific distance for the right distribution of water and availability of space.
