The organs that lie behind the peritoneum in abdominal cavity are called retroperitoneal organs. Peritonium is a membrane that forms the lining of the abdominal cavity. Retroperitoneal organs includes many organs such as: urinary organs (adrenal glands, kidneys, ureter and bladder), circulatory organs (aorta and inferior vena cava), digestive organs( some region of oesophagus and some of rectum),etc.
