A community contingency plan should include the following with regard
to Disaster Preparedness.
a. Forming a village disaster committee that may plan for the contingency collect information about the geographic, climatic condition of the area, about the population, housing patterns, occupational pattern etc.
b. Most important task in preparing for disaster is the activity of mapping of risk, vulnerabilities and capacities of the village itself in dealing with it. This may include social mapping about the types of houses:pucca or kuchha houses, about infrastructure, safe shelters in the form of schools, hospitals not located near the river bed.
c. The plan should answer the follwoing:
WHO- who is to effected, who is assigned what?
WHERE,- where to take safe shelter
WHEN- is their an early warning
WHAT- arrangement at the community level
HOW- to reach a place, get message
