What type of enzymes do these lysosomes release when it has to digest its own cell ?
The enzymes present in the lysosomes are collectively called as hydrolases. The hydrolases bring about the cleavage of substrates by the addition of a water molecules. Most of the lysosomal enzymes function in the acid medium. Hence they are called as acid hydrolases. During digestion of its own cells called autolysis, the lysosomes secrete all types of enzymes and the important ones include Nucleases, Proteases, glycosidases, lipases, phosphatases and sulphatases.
