We get AC current in our houses and the reason behind it is, Ccnverting DC power from one voltage to another requires a large spinning rotary converter or a massive motor generation set, which is difficult to construct, expensive, inefficient, and requires high maintenance, whereas with AC the voltage can be changed with simple and efficient transformers that have no moving parts and require very little maintenance. This is the key to the success of the AC system.
