Question

What will happen if a prism is placed upside down behind a prism that is scattering light ?

Open in App
Solution

If the two prisms (the erect one and the inverted one), are placed such that they are touching each other, then dispersion will not take place and we won't see the seven color spectrum. This is because the two prism configuration acts like a rectangular slab now, the incoming light would be refracted and laterally displaced.
