Question

what will happen if we kil all the organisms in one trophic level?

Open in App
Solution

If we kill all the organisms in one trophic level then it will disturb the food chain. It should be noted at this point that all trophic levels are connected and energy flows from one trophic level to another. So if all the organisms of one trophic level will be killed then there will be no food and energy for the second tropic level and hence all the organisms which are at the higher tropic level will die due to starvation. On the other hand there will be no organisms to eat the organisms of the lower tropic level so they will keep on reproducing and cover the whole ecosystem.
