Question

what will happen when we put clinical thermometer in boilin water

Open in App
Solution

When we put a clinical thermometer in boiling water under normal pressure, the thermometer will burst. This will happen because, a clinical thermometer has a range of 35 degrees to 42 degrees and the mercury in the thermometer will expand more than there is space in the tube, thus to accommodate its expansion, it bursts.
