Question

" when a body is dropped from a heigth, it falls with an acceleration of 10 m/s 2.If its mass is 250 g , how much force is exerted on it downward? Who exerts this force on the body? "

Solution

Given that the body of mass 'm' falls with an acceleration of 10 ms-2 ,i.e., g, then the net force acting on it will be the weight of the body:

F = m×ahere a=10ms-2therefore, F=0.25 × 10 F=2.5 N

The force exerted on the body is due to the gravitational pull of the earth.
