The induced current is produced in the anti clockwise direction. As the north pole approaches the coil the face of the coil itself becomes the north pole. A force of repulsion acts between the magnet and the coil. Hence there is the work done against the force of repulsion in bringing the magnet closer to the coil. Similarly when north pole of the magnet is moved away, there is south polarity on the upper face of the coil. Now there is the force of attraction between the magnet and the coil. Hence there is work done against the force of attraction by taking the magnet away from the coil.
When there is no movement of the magnet, work done is zero. There is no induced current.
