Question

When an object is vertically thrown upwards why does its speed decrease?

Open in App
Solution

We know that

F = ma

a = F/m

Also, a is the rate of change of velocity.

So, a body going upwards will experience a gravitational force. Due to this there would be some acceleration (towards the earth) and the speed will decrease.
