When milkmen add water as an adulterant to milk, does the water spoil the milk or lessen its nutrients?

Water is added to milk, in order to dilute and increase the volume of milk, it doesn't lessen its nutrient. But if the added water is contaminated or not boiled, then definitely it can spoil the milk.
